The Full Jar
South African native Red Peppadew peppers are the fruit of the Juanita, pickled in a simple sugar and vinegar mixture. “Protected Designation of Origin” (PDO) means they are name-protected to be grown & finished only in South Africa. Note that the seeds have been removed – this is not to curb a “heat” factor, as these are more sweet than spicy – rather to protect PDO (removal of the seeds prevents illegal propagation).
